Branding defines your business's core identity like who you are and what you stand for and what is your USP. It builds long-term reputation and emotional connection with its customers. Marketing, on the other hand, consists of the well calculated and well planned campaigns; used to promote that very identity, to get attention, and drive higher selling points. Branding acts as the foundation, while marketing uses that foundation to attract attention.

Hows of Branding:

Brand Strategy: how the brand positions itself.

Brand Identity: how the brand presents itself.

Brand Messaging: how the brand advertises.

Brand Personality: how the brand performs.

Customer Experience: how it helps its customers.

Hows of Marketing:

Market Research: how it starts.

Product Development: how the product or service performs.

Pricing Strategy: value recognition.

Placement & Distribution: supply and positioning.

Advertising & Promotions: getting it a selling point.

Marketing also includes: Public Relations (PR) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

Do They Work Together?

The answer is yes. Branding and marketing are deeply connected. They not only coincide but also have worked together.

Branding: This is the initial step. Before you can effectively market, you need a very sturdy brand identity to have a marketing purpose; and making it consistent.

Marketing: Here the brand is amplified and sold. Marketing gets your carefully crafted brand image to your story and makes a presence out of it, in front of the right audience.

Branding and marketing are closely connected, but they are not the same thing. Branding defines who you are, what you stand for. It establishes your identity, your principles, and how you want to be seen. On the other hand, marketing conveys that value and motivates people to take action accordingly.

Branding is your core identity, values, and in the long run; your reputation. It defines your reason for existing  between various competitors. Meanwhile marketing consists of the tactics and campaigns used to promote your products and generate sales. This is what binds them together.
